TOP DRIVES DEVELOPMENT ROADMAP | SEPTEMBER - DECEMBER 2024

23.1

Welcome to the Top Drives Development Roadmap for September to December 2024.

In this update, we'll share our plans for the remainder of 2024, as this will be the final roadmap of the year.

You'll notice some familiar features from the previous roadmap, along with exciting new additions. Features that were in development at the time may now be in testing, or even partially rolled out to users, reflecting our progress.

Our goal is to complete and release all the features outlined below before the year ends. However, as always...

[DISCLAIMER]

...it's important to keep in mind that our timelines do shift, and so do team priorities. Features listed in the roadmap may end up coming out later, or never.

For every player-facing feature, there is often a non-player-facing feature, such as improving our tooling to deliver more live content or upgrading our backend infrastructure, so this list does not include everything we will be working on.

Next Developments

New Campaign A brand new 150-round US-focused Campaign is coming soon!

Well, that's what we said last time, too. But it IS coming! In this Campaign, you will go face-to-face with 15 new Bosses to earn awesome cars. Here is one new face:

New Boss from the upcoming 150-round Campaign

New Update(s) The team anticipates at least one, possibly two, car updates this year, though they’ll be smaller compared to the previous one. These updates will arrive as part of the European Grand Tour expansion. The wait won’t be long, so stay tuned for the next reveal!

Only one brand will be updated in the next car release, but it’s a significant one. Can you guess which?

Car Rarity Changes (CRC) The much-anticipated feature allowing players to be compensated with tokens for removing upgrades from cars when their rarity changes is currently being tested. This change is expected to be introduced around the time of the year's second new card release.

Match Result Screen Improvements As mentioned in the earlier Roadmap update, the improved Match Result Screen will be tested with players in several stages, and it is now already available to some new users. Within a month or two, we're aiming to release this to all remaining players.

Percentage-based Prize Tiers are key to improving bracketing in high-stakes multiplayer events. There is still testing to be done, so you can expect this feature closer to the end of the year.

You can, however, check out this mockup of the latest design! As you can see, we're taking this opportunity to re-work some elements of the screen.

Event Leaderboard Improvements The team continues working on improving server stability and underfilled or overfilled leaderboards within Events. This is quite a challenging aspect and something we want to ensure we get right.

We are working towards a solution that should prove fruitful to ensure we have less downtime and errors whilst playing Events, as well as ensuring that when a player enters an event, they are in a competitive leaderboard.

Home Screen Improvements New on this list, our UI artist has been hard at work improving the home screen of the game to make it more intuitive and up-to-date with modern standards.

An important element like Racing Objectives now has its own big button, while the Item Leaderboards button moved to the bottom panel.

Campaign, Challenge, and Event panels are more pronounced and provide a clearer indication of the type of gameplay they offer.

Timeless Achievements In the last edition of the Roadmap, we discussed our plans to leverage the technology behind Racing Objectives to introduce new, permanent objectives that offer exciting in-game rewards, such as exclusive icons for completing them.

While this remains a long-term goal, significant progress on this feature is unlikely in 2024, which is why it has shifted to the bottom of the Roadmap. However, we can share a sneak peek at some of the icons that will be awarded for reaching these milestones.

New Icons to be awarded for completing long-term objectives, such as beating a Boss, or collecting all cars of the same brand.

Daily Objectives Expansion As of now, the team does not have much to share on the further development of the Daily Objectives feature. We'll come back to this topic once more information is available.

Thanks for reading! We'll kick off a Q&A section in the Discord server shortly after publishing, so make sure to join if you haven't already.
