To celebrate the update we’ll be posting about all of the epic drivers featured and in this post, it’s Sir Jackie Stewart's turn!

Sir Jackie Stewart, born on June 11, 1939, in Milton, West Dunbartonshire, Scotland, is a revered and iconic figure in the world of Formula 1. His illustrious career as a racing driver and his subsequent contributions to the sport have left an indelible mark on its history.

Stewart's journey in F1 began in 1965 when he made his debut with the BRM team. He quickly established himself as a formidable talent, securing his first Grand Prix victory in 1965 at the Italian Grand Prix. His exceptional driving skills and analytical approach to racing made him a standout driver.

One of Stewart's standout years was 1969, when he clinched his first World Championship whilst driving for the Matra International team. His strategic and safety-conscious approach to racing earned him the nickname "The Flying Scot." His championship-winning year included six race victories and a total of 10 podium finishes.

In 1971 whilst driving for Tyrrell, Stewart added another World Championship title to his name. That season, he achieved six race victories, further solidifying his status as a dominant force in F1. His consistency, analytical mindset, and remarkable skill behind the wheel brought him tremendous success.

Stewart's final World Championship in 1973, again whilst driving for Tyrrell, secured his legacy as a three-time F1 World Champion. During that season, he won five races and achieved nine podium finishes. His victory at the 1973 Italian Grand Prix in treacherous rain conditions remains one of the most iconic moments in F1 history and is still talked about today.

In 1973, after a highly successful career, Sir Jackie Stewart decided to retire from F1, leaving behind a legacy of 27 race wins and 43 podium finishes. His impact on the sport extended beyond the racetrack. Stewart became a tireless advocate for driver safety, pushing for improvements in track safety, helmet design, and overall driver well-being. There was also a transition post retirement to a successful career in motorsport media. Where his articulate and knowledgeable commentary made him a beloved and respected figure in the F1 broadcasting world. In addition to his work in the commentary box, Stewart is also well known for his charismatic pitlane appearances during F1 race broadcasts, where his expert insights and engaging presence in the pitlane add a layer of authenticity and excitement for viewers.

Sir Jackie Stewart's contributions to F1 as a driver and safety advocate are immeasurable. His enduring legacy, marked by his racing achievements and his dedication to making the sport safer, continues to inspire racers and fans alike and serve as a testament to the profound impact one individual can have on the world of Formula 1.
