HUTCH PERSONAL PROJECT TIME
Posted on
Every fortnight on a Friday, Hutchies get the chance to work on a personal project. Something away from their usual work - for example, prototyping a new game, doing a course, or creating a new tool or process.
With so many interesting and inspiring projects going on, we wanted to share some with you! So, it’s over to Marketing Artist and Peugeot 205 GTi driver, Pete, to share what he’s been working on…
My main focus has been to improve my hard surface 3d modelling and rendering techniques. Most recently I’ve been using HDRI maps and photographic backplates to aid my quest in creating images with more realistic lighting and reflections.
HDRI maps and backplates are not typically used in the marketing artwork that is produced at Hutch; reusing In-game environments for compositions are often opted for. So it’s been good to be able to step out of the usual workflow zones and try out different methods
I think Personal Project Days at Hutch are an excellent benefit; they allow for the time and freedom to further my professional development. It’s much easier to progress a skillset without having the pressures that may occur in a normal working day.
